Extra Bikes Need for Refugee Community

Do You Have An Extra Bike to Donate?

Oaks and Spokes is currently in the process of formalizing a partnership with the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants and have an immediate need for adult sized bikes to help community members that lack transportation options. After meeting with the staff at the center, we were informed that there is a significant increase in refugees and immigrants joining our local community, and many currently lack adequate transportation options to reach places of employment and other key destinations. Additionally, obtaining a vehicle is a significant expense for those resettling and a bike creates an affordable mobility option that allows our new community members to travel with reduced barriers. Through this partnership, we hope to provide a bike and other resources to enable our new neighbors to easily and safely travel through Raleigh by bike.

If you currently have a bike that may be underutilized and looking for a new home, please complete this form and we can work to distribute the bike to someone in need.

We are also working with our partners at Community Kickstand to establish a date this spring where we can go onsite and have a day of refurbishing bikes – so if you might have a bike that is available, but in need of a tune-up, please fill out this form and we will be in touch with more details soon. Additionally, if you have basic bike mechanic skills, we would love for you to consider joining us to rehab the bikes so we can get more community members out safely rolling.

Thank you for riding (and sharing!) your bike(s), Raleigh!
