North South Connector | Fall Challenge!

North South Connector | Fall Challenge!

Raleigh, it’s been quite a year but we’re happy to say that there is something to celebrate and we want you to join us. The City of Raleigh has just completed the initial installation of Phase I of the Downtown North South Greenway Connector, a separated on-road bike lane on West and Harrington Street from Martin to North Street. In the spring of 2019, many in our community came out to support Oaks and Spokes pop-up event, which was the culmination of years of advocacy work around this corridor. Thank you for your assistance and persistence – we have many of you to thank for this bike lane! Once construction is finalized on the Smoky Hollow project, the city will connect the rest of this project all the way up to Peace Street. This is Downtown’s first all ages and abilities infrastructure and that needs to be celebrated!

We have put together a special event to support our local business community and our local biking community. November 16th – 20th we’ve got lots of fun coming your way with prizes, goody bags and drawings daily for free Citrix Cycle memberships and local gift cards for participants. Get excited, Raleigh!

Participating is simple. Just pick a day (or all 5!) and ride downtown through the lanes, and stop by the business of the day. Tag any Oaks and Spokes social account (Find us at @OaksandSpokes on Twitter, Facebook and Insta) and add #NSConnector. From there you will be entered into drawings for gift cards to local businesses and Citrix Cycle memberships. Easy! Let’s show our local shops that bikes mean business and come out and support them en masse.

  • MONDAY | Heirloom Brewshop. Grab tea, coffee, dinner or a sandwich.
  • TUESDAY | Weaver Street. Get your grocery game on.
  • WEDNESDAY | State of Beer. Cheers! Let’s toast to our community.
  • THURSDAY | Flying Saucer. Pedal for pretzels anyone? Lots of outdoor patio seating, or grab food to go!
  • FRIDAY | Five Star. It’s Friday, time to celebrate a great week. *Note, open only from 5pm – 10pm, so plan to grab dinner.

Let’s make sure we show our local business community how much we appreciate them by coming out for this event to support these great locations. Follow our social media accounts for more information all week with pop-up giveaways and gift bags for participants. We’ll see you in the bike lane, Raleigh!

Gift cards were generously donated by our friends over at the Downtown Raleigh Alliance. Give them a follow, here, to stay up to date on their efforts to make Downtown Raleigh a place made for people. Additionally, Citrix Cycle has generously donated monthly memberships for this event. Thank you to both partners!
