This Thursday two very exciting and important public feedback events are being held by the NCDOT and City of Raleigh. We encourage you to show up and voice your opinions on the inclusion of walking and cycling paths in these plans. With your feedback we continue to shape this landscape to accommodate to a wider audience of commuters and recreational cyclists.
The NCDOT feedback event will be held at the NC State McKimmon Center located at 1101 Gorman St. This event will run from 5PM to 8PM.
The agenda will cover several items, but the topics we need to include and/or improve cycling and pedestrian accommodations are as follows:
- Improvements to the Beltline and Wake Forest road interchanges
- Converting Capital Blvd and Glenwood Ave into freeways
- Building of an underpass for Blue Ridge Rd under Hillsborough St
The City of Raleigh feedback event will be held at the James B. Hunt Jr. Library located at 1070 Partners Way. This event will run from 6PM to 8PM.
The agenda for this meeting will cover the future of Dix Park. In this meeting they will initiate a master planning process for Dorothea Dix Park and are looking to us to provide feedback and ideas to help shape how the park will serve the community. It is important we show the City how important cycling is to our community.
We need your passion and support to help the community become more sustainable by developing long term solutions that provide easy access to safe alternative transportation. We can accomplish this by voicing our needs and concerns and providing suggestions on how we would like to see these projects handled.
We hope to see you on Thursday! As always, thanks for riding your bikes.
