Bike to the Tour de Fat with O&S!

This Saturday the Tour de Fat comes to the Triangle bringing merriment, bewilderment, amusement and also some serious refreshment.  Come on an 8 mile ride with us to the American Tobacco Campus to enjoy the festivities! Why? It’s free to attend but TdF proceeds (beer sales!) benefit local non-profit cycling groups and bicycle-afflicted charities including BikeWalk NC, Triangle Spokes Group and the Durham Bike Co-Op.  Holla!

The event is here to give you a taste of the bigger show (occurring later in the month on June 21), to give you a sampling of beer and bemusement that these festivities are all about, and to raffle off a bicycle that would be quite sporting for a cruise in TdF’s bicycle themed parade.  Collectively these events benefit bicycling groups in Raleigh, the Triangle, and greater North Carolina!  Here are the details: Continue reading Mini-Bike Carnival Comes to Raleigh

Chickens and Bike Riding?

Like to watch, learn about and play with chickens? Like to ride your bike? Do it all on this year’s Tour D’Coop Bike Ride on Saturday, May 17th. The Tour D’Coop event seeks to educate visitors about keeping hens and has delighted thousands of visitors with garden ideas and inspiration. The Tour benefits Urban Ministries of Wake County, a non-profit that provides essential services to more than 24,000 Wake County residents each year.

For the past 9 years, Tour D’Coop has showcased dozens of chicken coops ndt homes in neighborhoods throughout Raleigh and Cary. While the tour has expanded in the past few years, one of this year’s new events is a Bike Route highlighting 6 coops in a more urban setting around downtown Raleigh.
